APC postpones house of reps primary poll to May 16

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its house of representatives primary election to May 16, 2026.
In a statement issued on Thursday by Felix Morka, the APC national publicity secretary, the party said other previously announced dates for the senate, state house of assembly, governorship, and presidential primaries remain unchanged.
According to the revised timetable, the house of representatives primary poll will now be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The APC said the senate primary election remains fixed for May 18, while the state house of assembly primary will hold on May 20.
The party added that the governorship primary election is scheduled for May 21, while the presidential primary will take place on May 23, 2026.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has backed the consensus option ahead of the APC primary elections.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Tinubu described consensus as a commendable option capable of reducing rancour among party members.
