ADC guber aspirant, Mfon Peter, pledges youth inclusion in governance

A gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Barr. Mfon Udeme Peter, has promised to prioritize youth inclusion in governance if elected governor of Akwa Ibom State.

Peter, an indigene of Ono, Ikot Nya in Ibiono Ibom LGA, made the pledge during a press conference at the NUJ Press Centre, Uyo.

He said youth engagement should go beyond empowerment to actual involvement in governance, noting that young people are a resourceful force in nation-building. He also pledged special attention to women and children if elected.

The aspirant said he chose ADC because the party is dependable and offers Akwa Ibom people a credible alternative.

A seasoned politician who has participated in past election cycles in the state, Peter said his economic blueprint would be unveiled within a week after the party’s governorship primaries, which he hopes to win.

Part of his plan, he disclosed, is to harness the state’s rich seafood market to boost agriculture for local consumption and export, with the aim of increasing internally generated revenue.

Peter, one of only two aspirants cleared by the ADC to contest the governorship primary in Akwa Ibom, said he is not a placeholder and is in the race to win.

He commended Governor Umo Eno for the ARISE Agenda and ongoing projects, pledging to complete ongoing and abandoned projects before initiating new ones if elected.
