In a continued effort to enhance healthcare delivery and support Governor Umo Eno’s A.R.I.S.E Agenda, the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East (Uyo Senatorial District), Senator Aniekan Bassey, has distributed essential medical consumables and drugs to Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the district.
The distribution exercise took place on Tuesday at the Senatorial District Secretariat in Uyo, with representatives from the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) and the Akwa Ibom State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (AKSPHCDA) in attendance.
Represented by the Director General of the Aniekan Bassey Campaign Organization, Barr. Godwin Awah, Ph.D, the Senator reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening healthcare services in rural communities and ensuring easy access to vital medications.
The PHCs that benefited from this initiative included: Itu LGA: Nwut Usung West Itam, Comprehensive Health Centre West Itam, Uyo Itam, Ayadehe, Oku Iboku;
Uyo LGA: Ikot Ayan Ikono, Ewet Offot;
Ibiono Ibom LGA: Utit Obio Ikot Uba, Ikot Adaidem, Ikot Esen, Use Ikot Amama, Ikpa Ikot Uneke;
Nsit Ubium LGA: Nung Obong, Ndiya, Ikot Eyo;
Nsit Ibom LGA: Mbiokporo I, Afia Nsit Urua Nko;
Uruan LGA: Idu-Uruan, Ekim Enen, Use Ekim, Ibiaku-Uruan;
Etinan LGA: Efa;
Nsit Atai LGA: Odot.
Speaking on behalf of the Senator, Barr. Awah noted that the initiative was part of Senator Bassey’s broader healthcare intervention strategy aimed at supporting Governor Umo Eno’s mission for accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all residents of Akwa Ibom State.
Healthcare professionals and stakeholders present commended Senator Bassey for the timely intervention, noting that the supplies would significantly boost service delivery and improve health outcomes in the communities.
This distribution exercise is one in a series of medical interventions sponsored by Senator Bassey to meet the health needs of his constituents and foster a robust primary healthcare system in Akwa Ibom North East.
