Insight Newspapers Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, will hold its 13th anniversary celebration and summit on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the NUJ Press Centre, Uyo, by 11 a.m.
The summit, which has the theme, “Media Advocacy and Investigation Across the Extractive Sector Value Chain in Nigeria,” will feature a presentation by the Executive Director of Ibom Peoples’ Empowerment and Ecosystem Restoration Foundation (Ibom PEER Foundation), Mr Mfon Gabriel.
The event would be chaired by Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Usoro Akpanusoh, former member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, who represented the Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency.
Chairman of the anniversary planning committee, Comrade Emmanuel Sampson, disclosed during the Chapel’s August Congress that the celebration would provide a platform for engaging key stakeholders, industry experts and media practitioners on the challenges and opportunities facing the media in Nigeria’s extractive sector.
According to Sampson, the summit is expected to promote discussions on media advocacy and investigative journalism across the extractive sector value chain, while encouraging greater attention to issues affecting the industry.
The Chapel Chairman, Comrade Itoro Bassey, and the planning committee have invited media stakeholders, students of mass communication, correspondents and reporters covering the extractive sector to attend the anniversary celebration and summit.
