Gloria Useh, first female chairman of Ikot Ekpene, dies at 61

The first female chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Obonganwan Gloria Useh, is dead.

Her remains will be laid to rest on June 5, 2026.

Obonganwan Useh passed away on February 3, 2026, at the age of 61.

A respected grassroots politician and mobilizer of women, the late Gloria Useh served in various capacities in the local government, including as member of the Local Government Council Transition Committee, Supervisor, before making history in 2012 as the first female Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.

Until her demise, she was serving as Senior Legislative Aide to the President of the Senate,Sen. Godswill Akpabio,GCON.

According to the funeral arrangement released by the family, the funeral service will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Nyara Enyin Ntong Uno in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area by 10:00 a.m.

Family members, political associates, friends, and well-wishers are expected to attend the ceremony to pay their final respects to the late politician.
