We’ll elect new Ntisong Ibibio soon -Cyril Ekiko

The Chairman, Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio Management Committee, Rt. Hon. Cyril Ekiko has assured that the apex socio-cultural organization will elect its new leader, Ntisong Ibibio IV within the next three months.

Mkpisong Ekiko gave the assurance during a chat with pressmen shortly after the inauguration of the group’s management committee, last Friday, adding that the committee is committed to delivering on the assignment.

“I have the honour and privilege to welcome you all to this inaugural meeting for a very crucial function, which is aimed at overseeing the smooth organisation management and the transition of the leadership from Ntisong Ibibio III to Ntisong Ibibio the IV of our Pan-SocioCultural organization formed 40 years ago for the sake of promoting unity, peaceful co-existence, and development of the Ibibio people, both at home and in the Diaspora,” he said.

He further assured that the committee will ensure transparency and justice in the emergence of the new Ntisong.

“The mandate reposed on me and my committee members by the highest decision making body of this organisation (the Mkpisong Council) is to see through the successful transition of leadership from the position of Ntisong Ibibio III to that of Ntisong Ibibio IV within three months.

“As you can see there is progress in the leadership of our organisation through that of Ntisong Ibibio 1, 2, 3 and probably we will have the fourth in no distance time from now.

In delivering this mandate reposed on me, my committee and I will deliver this mandate on the alter of truth, fair-play, balance and equity in ensuring that the 18 local government areas of Ibibio land, making up the 10 federal constituencies and tree senatorial districts of our organisation have the sense of belonging in the organisation.

“We had our first patriarch and leader of the organisation in person of Ntisong (Barr.) Vincent Uwemedimo of blessed memory from Eket Federal Constituency via Eket Senatorial District and Ntisong Ibibio the second, Obong Sabastine Umoren of blessed memory from Uyo federal constituency, via Uyo Senatorial District whom Ntisong Essien Ekidem took over.

“As a leader who believes in God on the alter of fairness and equity my committee and I will look up to the next Ntisong on the premise of justice for all,” he said.
