Jubilations as Nya-Etok redeems scholarship pledge to 58 Akwa Ibom students
The Principal Partner of Novone Consult Limited and progenitor of social governance ideology, Arc Ezekiel Nya-Etok, has redeemed his pledge of scholars awards for this year (2022) to indigenes of Akwa Ibom State in secondary schools and tertiary institutions.
Nya-Etok gave the scholarship on Friday at the FGN/Novone Dream Garden Estate, Akwa Ibom State, to 28 students in the secondary schools category and 30 students in tertiary institutions from within and outside the state.
The students were drawn from different schools including Fulgar International School, Roseland Schools, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Akwa Ibom State School of Health Technology, Etinan; College of Education, Afaha Nsit; Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, among others.
The renowned Nigerian architect and Housing Man of the Year (2014) said that the scholarship award was in fulfilment of the pledge he made in November 2021, during his 58 birthday celebration.
“I am happy that, today, God has blessed me such that I have fulfilled the promise to everybody. I feel overwhelmed. I feel very excited and grateful to God.
“The scholarship is much more bigger than we had anticipated. We were supposed to have 28 for the secondary schools, we added eight to make it 36. And we were supposed to have 30 for the tertiary institutions, we added five to it making it 35.
“We still have four students for full university scholarship, from start to finish, from my friend, Alhaji Kwankwaso. Moghalu Kingsley is also sending his list. Another of my friend, Chukwuka Monye, is also sending me his list of people he wants to sponsor.
“At the end of the day, we want to have nothing less than 100 beneficiaries; that’s our target. And I’m sure I’ll be able to do it.
“Education is the key. Anything that does not start with education is a waste of time”, said Nya-Etok who also urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture to others in their own little way.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the SUG President of the Akwa Ibom State College of Health Technology expressed the students’ immense appreciation to Arc Nya-Etok for the award of scholarships to Akwa Ibom students.
He thanked Arc Nya-etok for his generosity, saying that the students were sincerely honored to have been selected as recipients of the scholarship award. He assured that the gesture would certainly encourage them perform excellently in the studies.
In their separate remarks, Pastor Sylvanus Ukafia of Insight Bible Church, Uyo, and the Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Bishop Emmaneul Etim, congratulated the scholarship beneficiaries and expressed gratitude to Arc Nya-etok for the gesture.
Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of an award of excellence by the students to Arc Nya-etok for his “selfless service towards the growth and development Akwa Ibom State students and beyond”.
