NIPR, FRSC forge alliance to strengthen road safety in Akwa Ibom

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, has established a strategic partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to enhance public enlightenment and promote road safety awareness in the state.

The partnership was initiated during a courtesy visit on Monday by the NIPR Akwa Ibom State Executive Council to the FRSC Sector Command in Uyo.

The delegation was led by the Chapter Chairman of NIPR, Dr. Manasseh Umoette, and was received by the Akwa Ibom State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mrs Felicia M. Kalu.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Umoette described the collaboration as timely and necessary, noting that effective communication remains central to traffic management and public safety.

He stated that the Institute was prepared to support the FRSC through strategic communication initiatives, public enlightenment campaigns, and professional public relations expertise to assist the Corps in achieving its mandate.

He also congratulated Commander Kalu on her posting to Akwa Ibom State, describing her as a valued professional colleague, and assured her of the Chapter’s support and cooperation.

Responding, Commander Kalu welcomed the NIPR delegation and expressed appreciation for the proposed partnership. She emphasized that road safety is a collective responsibility, stressing that the mandate of the FRSC can only be achieved through sustained public participation and awareness.

According to her, “Saving lives is the responsibility of every Nigerian, and the FRSC will continue to spread the message of safety consciousness across the country.”

As part of the visit, the Sector Commander presented copies of the Safe Wheel Magazine to the NIPR Chairman, while Dr. Umoette, in turn, presented the maiden edition of the NIPR Akwa Ibom State Chapter Journal to the FRSC Command.

Others present during the visit included the NIPR Assistant Secretary, Happiness Usoro; the Chapter Auditor, Josephine Ekpa; and senior officers of the FRSC Akwa Ibom State Sector Command.
