Rotary International District 9142 set to install Akan Emah as Governor
Rotary International District 9142 in Nigeria is buzzing with excitement as they prepare to install the illustrious Rotarian Akan Emah as the 7th district governor.
The grand occasion is set to take place on July 29, 2023, at the prestigious Ibom Hall in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, and promises to be a cultural extravaganza.
Leading up to the installation ceremony, a series of delightful events have been meticulously planned to commemorate this momentous occasion.
The festivities, according to Rotarian (Barr.) Bassey Ekanem, Chairman of the installation planning committee, will kick off on Friday, July 28, with a joyful praise and worship service at Destiny International Mission, Ewet Housing estate, Uyo, by 5pm.
Ekanem said by 7pm on Friday, Rotarians from near and far will converge in Uyo, where they will be treated to a warm welcome party and hospitality night at the luxurious Eemjm Hotels and Suite, along Dominic Utuk Avenue.
Ekanem said at the heart of the celebration lies the official installation ceremony, taking place at noon on July 29 where Rotarian Emah will be officially installed as the 7th Governor of Rotary International District 9142, and he will serve alongside the distinguished Rotary International President, Gordon R. McInally.
Rotarian Ekanem, while sharing his deep enthusiasm for the upcoming festivities, said the ceremony will be attended by eminent dignitaries from within and outside the district to add an air of importance and intrigue to the proceedings.
He revealed to journalists, on Tuesday, during a briefing at Dignified Palace Hotel, Uyo, that the event will not only be a platform to honor Rotarian Emah’s leadership but also an opportunity to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Akwa Ibom State.
Ekanem said the occasion will also feature traditional and contemporary entertainment, to ensure an unforgettable and captivating experience for all the guests and visitors.
The planning committee has also planned a special recognition ceremony during the installation. They will unveil major donors, confer the esteemed title of Paul Harris Fellows, and present various awards to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to society, particularly the less privileged.
To add even more grandeur to the occasion, Barr. Ekanem said distinguished guests of honor have been invited. These include the former governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, who will serve as Chairman of the occasion.
In addition, he said Nigeria’s former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke, will attend as a special guest. And notably, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan has been accorded the status of special guest of honor, further elevating the prestige of the event.
As the 7th District Governor, Rotarian Akan Emah will lead Rotarians from various clubs across Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Anambra states for the 2023/2024 year.
Together with Rotary International President McInally, Emah said he is set to bring a new era of dedication, innovation, and service to Rotary International District 9142.
The planning sub-committee chairman of publicity, Rotarian Bella Nsa, also noted that the installation and investiture of Rotarian Akan Emah promises to be a milestone in Rotary International District 9142’s history, celebrating unparalleled leadership, cultural heritage, and philanthropy, all under one roof.
