Police parade 33 suspects in Akwa Ibom, recover weapons, hard drugs

The spokesperson for the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Timfon John, yesterday, paraded 33 suspects at the Command’s headquarters in Uyo, arrested for various offenses over the past week.

John, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, stated that among those arrested were three burglary suspects, two suspected thieves, three child traffickers, 17 illicit drug dealers, one notorious cultist, one fake currency dealer, and six suspected tricycle thieves.

Additionally, the police spokesperson announced the recovery of several items from the suspects, including seven LED television sets, four generator sets, hard drugs, a Sony home theater system, a Toyota Camry car with the registration number KY 984 EKY, locally made firearms, and two CCTV cameras.

Other recovered items included a POS machine, a Samsung iPad, a 12.5kg gas cylinder, a set of senator attire, three pairs of Italian shoes, three different WiFi connectors, a bag containing various new motor parts, electric chargers and adapters, along with numerous personal belongings and household items.

According to DSP John, these accomplishments reflect the police’s commitment and dedication to upholding law and order in the state.

She said, “Let me make this abundantly clear: the Akwa Ibom State Police Command under the watchful eye of CP Baba Mohammed Azare fsi, is not here to negotiate with criminals.

“Suspected drug dealers, robbers, car thieves, child traffickers, cultists, and other criminal elements operating in this state should take this as a final warning-your days are numbered.

“I repeat, you either turn a new leaf or leave Akwa Ibom State, because if you choose to stay, the Command is watching, and will dismantle your operations across all 31 LGAs”.

DSP John urged the people of Akwa Ibom to support the Command by providing reliable information, assuring them that their identities would be kept confidential.

She emphasised that combating crime necessitates the collaboration of the entire community members.
