Africa takes global runway at E1 Championship Fashion Show

It was a dazzling night of culture, colour and creativity as the E1 Championship Fashion Show lit up the EbonyLife Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, uniting Africa’s brightest fashion talents under one global spotlight.
The E1 fashion show— themed Africa Takes the Global Runway— was a spectacular celebration of the continent’s craftsmanship and innovation, reaffirming Africa’s growing influence on the international fashion scene.
The runway came alive with collections from outstanding designers across the continent and the Diaspora, including Tannymash (Zimbabwe), Afrikayla, Keannie Fashion Empire, What 2 Wear, Anjoreen Couture, Prince Glam Style (Nigeria), SGTC Clothing (Ghana), Dashikipride African Designers in the Diaspora (New York City), and Rikaotobyme, who served as the show’s creative director.
From bold reinterpretations of traditional prints to contemporary haute couture, each collection told a powerful story of an Africa in motion — confident, expressive, and ready to lead.
Beyond the glitz, the show carried a strong message of purpose and progress. In partnership with the Creative Africa Nexus initiative of the African Export-Import Bank and Fund for Export Development in Africa, the event spotlighted fashion as a major pillar of Africa’s creative economy.
The initiative aims to empower designers, artists, and cultural entrepreneurs through funding, trade access and industrial development — aligning perfectly with the event’s vision of positioning African creativity on the global stage.
Supported by the Lagos State Government, the Aurora International Foundation, Afreximbank, CANEX, FEDA, and partners from Nigeria’s creative, tourism, and business sectors, the showcase underscored the economic potential of the creative industry in driving youth empowerment, export diversification, and cross-border trade.
