Inen cult crisis: Akwa Ibom NUJ lauds government for restoring peace
For resolving the 10-month cult crisis in Inen communities, Oruk Anam Local Government Area, which had claimed some lives and displaced over 3,000 families, Governor Udom Emmanuel has received a pat on the back by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council.
Governor Emmanuel has also been appreciated for his support to the NUJ over the years, which had been described as huge.

Speaking at the thanksgiving service, organised by the NUJ, at Living Faith Church, Ikot Obong, Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, on Sunday, the State Chairman of NUJ Comrade Amos Etuk, said that the resolution of Inen cult crisis was a mark of confidence and unwavering commitment to the restoration of communal conflicts in INI and Okobo Local Government Areas, soon.
Etuk disclosed that In 2020 alone, the Union drank deep from the benevolence of the governor and listed them to include COVID-19 palliatives, Christmas packages and other numerous supports.
Furthermore, the Union offered its deep appreciation along with sincere compliments to the Chief of Staff to the Governor and Grand Patron of NUJ, Zone F, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-eyen for his huge support.
”In a special way, we thank the Chief of Staff for being a guest at the January Congress of the NUJ, his Christmas packages and support for the completion of the auditorium project, which were well received and endorsed by members.
Meanwhile, the State chairman of NUJ has assured Akwa Ibom people of the commitment of the media community to professionalism in journalism practice.
Present at the service were the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong; his Special Duties counterpart, Hon. Opulopm Etteh; member for Etinan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Aniefiok Dennis; member for Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency, Hon. Uduak Odudo; Ikot Abasi Council chairman and Hon. Joshua Affia.
Others were former Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Barr. Ekong Sampson; chairperson of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Sunny James; his Secretary, Comrade Iboro Ibara; president of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Akwa Ibom State chapter, Comrade Anestina Iweh and past chairmen of NUJ.
