As consultations commence throughout Akwa Ibom State to identify credible individuals for Governor Umo Eno’s new cabinet, the Akwa Ibom Business Community has urged the governor to consider appointing one of its members as the commissioner for trade and investment.

During a press conference held in Uyo on Saturday, January 11, Mr. Lordswill Umani, President of the Akwa Ibom Business Community, emphasised that the group’s members are well-acquainted with the unique challenges facing the business sector in the state and are prepared to promote investment in alignment with the administration’s ARISE Agenda.

The stakeholders dismissed rumors suggesting that Governor Umo Eno has neglected the broader business community, where he previously served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT).

They affirmed that the governor has consistently kept his promises and remains committed to supporting the community.

Umani was joined by Adede Uduak Akpan of Afe Mkparawa Anang, Chief Daniel Chukwuma of the Urban Traders Welfare Association, Mr. Ifiok Paul of the Ibom Boutique Owners Association, Capt. Linus Ibanga of the Uyo Timber Association, Mr. Osita Nwude Patrick of the Igbo Business Forum, and Mr. Innocent Akpan of Urua Mbakara, along with other executive council members.

He encouraged business community members worldwide to maintain their faith in Governor Eno, assuring them that the governor values the Akwa Ibom Business Community and prioritises his primary constituency.

“As a community that values our leader, we must continue to pray for the governor as he guides the state in its efforts to promote private sector development.

“We commend our leader for his outstanding leadership, and as a community, we will continue to support our governor and resist any attempts by those who wish to undermine the governor’s excellent performance,” Umani said.

Governor Eno, on Friday, approved the dissolution of the State Executive Council, as announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Enobong Uwah.

The statement directed the sacked commissioners and Special Advisers to transfer their responsibilities to the permanent secretaries or senior directors in their respective ministries.
