Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis donates medical equipment to PHCs in Akwa Ibom


In line with its global mission to deliver humanitarian services and promote goodwill and peace around the world, the Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis, in collaboration with Premier Medical Services, has launched its Maternal and Child Health Care Project in Akwa Ibom State.
The initiative, named “Project 10/10,” encompasses ten randomly selected local government areas in Akwa Ibom State with visits to primary healthcare centers to provide counseling for pregnant women, training for healthcare personnel in infant resuscitation, and the donation of essential medical equipment.
Last Friday, a delegation from the Club, led by its President, Uyai Edidiong Francis and the immediate past president, Andy Nkim, visited Uruan local government area, marking the eighth local government area engaged in this initiative.
Accompanying the team was Prof. Nsikak Udokang, the Medical Director of Premier Medical Services, who has been present during visits to all selected local government areas, offering counselling to both medical personnel and pregnant women.
In Uruan, the Club members were welcomed by Council Chairman Surv. Iniobong Ekpenyong and several members of his team, along with the Director of Health Services for the Primary Health Centre in Idu Uruan, who also attended the visit.
During the event, the Club donated various medical equipment, including Fetal DAPPER, Stethoscope, Sphygmomanometer, Pedal Sunction Machine, Digital Themometers, and Fully Kitted Delivery Trays.
Speaking at the visit, PDG Akan Emah, a past district governor of Rotary International District 9142, praised President Uyai Edidiong Francis and all Club members for their commitment and efforts in making the initiative a reality.
