The Coalition of Democrats (CODE) in Akwa Ibom State has unanimously endorsed President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno for a second term in office.
The pro development and non-partisan socio-political organisation, in a communiqué on Friday, released after an executive meeting at Kiniz Hall in Uyo, on Thursday, said they would stand behind the President, Akpabio, and Eno in the upcoming 2027 elections.
In the communiqué signed by the Chairman of CODE, Rt. Hon. Usenobong Akpabio, and the Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh, the forum described the recent launch of the Akwa Ibom section of the coastal highway project as a significant step toward economic recovery and political development for both Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria as a whole.
They also commended the President for his strategic economic reforms and for appointing Akwa Ibom indigenes to key positions, including Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, who is the Minister of State for Gas.
While they acknowledged the pivotal role of Senate President Godswill Akpabio in enhancing Akwa Ibom’s political landscape, the forum commended Governor Eno for his visionary leadership and unifying approach, which they believe have significantly advanced the state’s development over the past two years.
The communiqué read in part: “CODE commends Governor Umo Eno, leader of PDP Akwa Ibom State, for his unfeigned humility and visionary stewardship to the State, his unifying approach to governance thus repositioning the state to achieve more in all areas within the last two years of his administration; example, the first of its kind State unity visit to the President; introduction of the politics of unity amongst the major political Parties; timely, bold and Tinubu as well as intentional execution of developmental projects in the State through the ARISE Agenda of his government”.
In addition to their endorsements, the forum outlined several requests to the leadership, including the delineation of state and federal constituencies in accordance with the 1999 Constitution, expedited action on the Ibom Deep Seaport project, and adequate funding for the completion of the Calabar/Itu Federal highway.
They also called for the regularisation of operations at the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) and the completion of the long-abandoned Ikot Ekpene/Aba road.

The group urged all stakeholders, including senior citizens, political leaders, and community members, to rally behind the Governor’s efforts to garner support across party lines.
“We reaffirm the willingness of CODE to collaborate with other well-meaning individuals and organisations of like-minds both within and outside the State for proper consolidation of ARISE and RENEWED HOPE Agenda”.
Other attendees of the CODE meeting included former Uyo Council Chairman Hon. Imo Okon, Chief Ufikaro Efet (former Eastern Obolo Council Chairman), Hon. Uduot Jack (former Etim Ekpo Council Chairman), Dr. Etido Ibekwe (former Essien Udim lawmaker), Hon. Uko Idiong, Mr. Ekemini Ukim, Sir Victor Etefia (former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Petroleum Matters), Udo Ukwang, and several others.
