NPMCN Induction: Dr Anietie Ebu bags three outstanding awards

Akwa Ibom-born Medical Doctor, Anietie Ebu, has won three postgraduate national medical awards at the 41st Hybrid Convocation Ceremony of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN).

At the just concluded 41 Convocation held in Lagos, Dr Anietie Ebu won three awards after emerging tops in different categories.

Ebu who was awarded winner of Prof Edomwonyi’s prize for the best dissertation in Obstetrics Anaesthesia, and both the Oduntan and Uduaghan Prizes for the best candidate at the Part II exams of the Faculty of Anaesthesia of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN), is a staff of University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.

In a message of congratulations by Dr. Jacob Etiemana to the overall awardee, he described Dr Ebu as rare gem, said she has shown an uncommon passion for healthcare development in Nigeria and indeed the spirit of the present day Akwa Ibomite.

He said he believes the award would spur young and intending doctors for more service to the country and humanity, saying it is a well-deserved honour, Dr. Jacob called on governor Umo Eno to explore the potentials of Dr. Anietie Ebu by giving her opportunity to contribute her intellects to the actualization of his ARISE AGENDA.

The message read in parts.”Being the recipient of three Awards and the overall best Award is indeed worthy of celebration. This indeed the spirit of the present day Akwa Ibomite, I am particularly happy to call you a role model. Your trainers, junior colleagues and even patients are super proud of you.”

The medical guru thanked, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo and other consultants of the College of Medicine for laying a solid foundation and helping the likes of Dr. Ebu to compete favourably with her contemporaries across the globe. He further explained that the record set by Dr. Ebu is a testament that University of Uyo has become a great force to reckon with among other top-rate universities globally.

On his part, Public Relations Officer of Nigerian Society of Anaesthetists Dr. Osele Raphael Taiwo, on behalf of the President, Executive Committee, Board of Trustees and the Distinguished Members of the Nigerian Society of Anaesthetist, also Congratulated Dr Ebu for her achievement, while calling on young doctors to emulate the doggedness, hard work, resilience and committed efforts made by Dr Anietie Ebu towards the accomplishment of her goal.

It is on record that ten years ago during the oath taking ceremony of the University of Uyo College of Medicine, Dr. Ebu was decorated as the best graduating female, best in paediatric, and best in family medicine making her a shining star and a worthy Ambassador of the University of Uyo College of Medicine.
