By Nsikak Akwa

The Nigeria Christian Graduate Fellowship (NCGF) recently hosted its 2025 Annual National Conference, culminating in the celebration of its 50th anniversary at the International Christian Centre in Abuja’s Central Business District.

With the themed “A New Dawn,” inspired by Isaiah 43:18–19, the NCGF conference emphasised the need for renewed hope and transformation in the nation.

The event, held from Wednesday, August 27, to Saturday, August 30, 2025, brought together Christian professionals from across Nigeria and featured a variety of spiritual and developmental activities.

Attendees participated in worship and praise sessions, choir performances, Bible studies, warfare prayers, an economic summit, a youth empowerment forum, and a political summit.

In his welcome address, the National President of the Fellowship, Prof. Ashong Ashong, reflected on the country’s history and expressed optimism for the future.

“We have witnessed a long night as a country and have had the unpleasant experience of civil war. We expect that, as we enter into the new dawn, our God will be with us to protect us against adverse circumstances,” he said.

The 50th anniversary celebration was marked by the cutting of a commemorative cake, with Prof. Jerry Gana serving as the chairman of the occasion. Additionally, the National President laid the foundation for the Fellowship’s proposed International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Another key feature of the conference was the launch of NCGF TV, a new media platform with the slogan “Your Faith, Your Voice.” Through its correspondents, the station is expected to serve faith-based audiences across six regions: Aba, Abuja, Bauchi, Benin, Lagos/Ife, and Uyo.

The event also featured the Africa Vision Tract House Society (AVTHS) – the missionary arm of the Fellowship, led by Executive Director Pastor Polycarp Mbah – celebrating 28 years of service in the production and distribution of gospel tracts in multiple languages, as well as conducting medical missions across Nigeria and several African countries, including Guinea-Bissau, Tanzania, Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.

In a pre-conference interview in Uyo, Prof. Ashong Ashong and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Elder John Udo, described NCGF as a trans-denominational, faith-based organisation made up of Christian graduates committed to influencing society through exemplary lives and intellectual engagement.

Founded in 1975 and incorporated in 1984, NCGF currently has 40 chapters across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“It is a beautiful family with committed Christians whose lives are exemplary in every sense of the word,” Prof. Ashong said.

Described as the largest gathering of Christian graduates in Nigeria, the conference featured a distinguished lineup of speakers and facilitators, including Rev. Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam, Rev. Dr. David Ogueli, Archbishop Tunde Adeleye, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, Pastor (Prof.) Emman Osakwe, Rev. Mrs. Angela Ashong, Prof. Sam Amadi, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, Rev. Mrs. Queen Igbebo, and Prof. Chima Onoka.

Participants at the NCGF conference reaffirmed their commitment to national development through faith-based leadership, advocacy, and service.
