A leading aspirant, Ambassador Ime Victor, has officially declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly to represent Abak State Constituency under the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC.
The declaration event, held at Nto Otong in Midim Clan, Abak LGA, on Sunday, attracted a wide spectrum of stakeholders including party leaders from Abak, traditional rulers, religious leaders, market men and women, artisans, as well as representatives of non indigenous residents, all of whom openly endorsed his candidacy.
Speaking at the event, the APC chapter chairman in Abak, Hon. Anaka, expressed gratitude for the growing political momentum behind Victor’s ambition, saying that the aspirant’s track record of service and engagement within the constituency have positioned him as a strong contender.
“Truly, we give all the glory to God for today. We must also appreciate our party leader in the state, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno for his leadership. Ime Victor is a good product and we believe he is capable of representing us effectively,” Anaka said.
In his remarks, Amb. Victor said he was humbled by the level of support and confidence reposed in him by the stakeholders and people of Abak local government area.
Victor said his consultations were driven by respect for the APC structure and the need to seek guidance from party leaders. He highlighted his previous experience as a council secretary, which he said broadened his administrative capacity and strengthened his political network.
He also referenced the influence of his late father, a former pioneer chairman of Abak Local Government Area, whose tenure he said brought significant development to the area.
Victor assured stakeholders of his commitment to attracting impactful projects and increasing government presence in the constituency if elected. He appealed for the support and counsel of party leaders, pledging to justify their confidence.
At the consultation tour which began at the palace of the village head of Nto Otong in Midim Clan, prayers were offered by community members for the success of Victor’s political ambition.
In continuation of the outreach, Victor and his team visited the residence of the ward chairman, where they were received by ward executives. The ward chairman, Mr. Christopher Obo, commended the aspirant, noting that he was the first to formally consult with the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward structure.
The UBOKABASI Campaign Organisation, which is spearheading Victor’s ambition, also visited the APC Chapter Chairman, Hon. Anderson Anaka, who convened members of the chapter executive for the meeting.
Speaking on behalf of the campaign team, its spokesperson, Akuku Ubong Atai Ekpo, said the visit was part of ongoing consultations aimed at formally presenting the aspirant and informing party leaders of his intention to contest in 2027. He described Victor as a seasoned politician with the capacity to deliver.
The consultation tour also took the UBOKABASI Campaign Organisation to the leader of the AKPF in Abak, Mr. Koko Abia, as well as to a former Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Uwem Udoma.
Both leaders described Victor’s track record as commendable, noting that it positions him strongly in the forthcoming contest.
