Former Minister of State for FCT, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, says the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) does not stand a chance of winning the 2027 election because the party is under a curse in the state.
To support his position, Udoedehe, who is the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Akwa Ibom State, said the broom, the APC’s logo, was perceived to be an object for toilet sweeping when the party was first introduced in the state during the 2015 electioneering.
While addressing Oro leaders on Friday as part of his consultations ahead of the election, Udoedehe emphasised that it is the responsibility of the Oro people to mobilise themselves to rescue democracy from the hands of the APC-led administration in Akwa Ibom state.
He stated, “I am coming to partner with you for the development of Oro nation. Don’t waste your time; the APC will not win Akwa Ibom because they have cursed themselves.
“When we brought the APC, they said it was the broom party and that a broom is for those who sweep toilets. They have not removed that curse.
“They also claimed that the PDP is a religion, that nobody can break the PDP. They have used their own hands to break the PDP. Two curses, and three, they are the ones who put it upon themselves, not me.”
Speaking at the well-attended meeting, Udoedehe pledged to prioritise development by ensuring that his administration executes infrastructure projects that would stimulate socio-economic development across the five local government areas that make up Oro nation.
“I have come here to ask for your support. I promise that I will work for the overall development of Oro when I assume office as your governor next year. Support me this time; I will not disappoint you because I will run an inclusive government.”
According to Udoedehe, the ADC as a political party is growing larger every day, and it will win the 2027 general election at both the federal and state levels.
“I have come again to tell you that the ADC will win Nigeria. I am here to assure you that we will win Akwa Ibom State.
“I told the people of Akwa Ibom that the APC would form the federal government in 2015. Everyone who acted against me at that time is now in the APC. We are going to change APC to ADC”.
