Ex-minister, Muhammed Adoke, expresses admiration over Rotary’s invaluable projects in Nigerian communities


Former Nigerian Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke, has expressed his admiration for Rotary International and its invaluable projects that have touched the lives of people in Nigerian communities.
Speaking as special guest of honour, weekend, at the installation ceremony of Rotarian Akan Emah, the new District Governor for Rotary International District 9142, Adoke urged individuals to collaborate with Rotary and DG Emah to Create Hope in the World .


Mr Adoke, who was represented by Prof. S. T. Akper, SAN, praised DG Akan Emah’s leadership qualities, describing him as a determined achiever with profound wisdom.
The installation ceremony drew members from all Rotary clubs in District 9142, which covers Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo, and Enugu states, and who displayed their traditional attire, adding color and cultural richness to the occasion.
DG Emah, who commenced his tenure on July 1, 2023, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Rotary clubs in Rotary International District 9142.
DG Emah assured everyone of his commitment to effective leadership, adding that he would be focusing on fostering Rotary’s growth, enhancing membership strength, expanding community services, prioritizing mental health, and supporting human development.
Also in his inaugural speech, DG Emah appreciated his predecessor, Rotarian Grace Okaro, past District Governors, and other dedicated Rotarians for their unwavering support.
He solicited for further support as he embarks on his new responsibility.


The investiture ceremony was chaired by the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, who was also represented by Prof Akper.
He encouraged the guests to remain steadfast in their support for humanity and Rotary’s goal of creating a better society.


The chairman of the occasion also recognized and commended the efforts of Rotarians in eradicating poliomyelitis and combating other health threats in Nigeria.
Highlights of the event included the cutting of the bestowal cake and commemoration of the 2023rd birthday of Mrs. Akan Emah, the District Governor’s wife.


The ceremony also featured the presentation of Rotary Gold Service awards and honorary recognitions to deserving individuals, including the Senator representing Abia-South senatorial district in the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe; CMD of University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Prof. Emem Bassey, and the Chairman/CEO of Taf Media Group, Mr. Tony Afia, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to society.
One standout recipient of the Gold Service Award for Humanitarian and Philanthropy services was Edu Anthony Offong, founder of Dudu Foundation and CEO of Dudu’s Aroma, a renowned restaurant in Uyo, Nigeria.


Offong received the award from the representative of the former Rivers governor, marking a notable moment of appreciation for her immense dedication to making a difference.
The ceremony captured the essence of professionalism, showcasing the remarkable impact and contributions of Rotary in Nigeria.
