Rivers Crisis: Tinubu urged me to reconcile with Wike – Fubara reveals

Sim Fubara, the suspended Governor of Rivers State, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu instructed him to reconcile with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, amid ongoing tensions with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Fubara stated that Tinubu emphasized the importance of making peace with Wike, whom he referred to as his “Oga.” The rift between Fubara and Wike emerged shortly after Fubara took office in 2023.

This conflict prompted Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State for six months, leading to Fubara’s suspension.

Recently, Tinubu facilitated a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he successfully brought together all parties involved. Following the discussions, Wike announced that peace had been restored in Rivers State and that all parties had committed to collaborating moving forward.

However, while addressing his supporters in Port Harcourt on Saturday, the suspended governor characterized the reconciliation process as challenging and burdensome. He urged his followers, known as the “Simplified family,” to embrace the peace agreement, emphasizing that this reconciliation was a necessary sacrifice for the stability and development of the state.

Fubara said: “After the meeting we had before May 29th, we’ve had a series of meetings and one of the meetings we had was the one we met with the President, and President Tinubu clearly said, ‘I want you and your oga to settle.”
