SWAN honours veteran sports journalist Justice Udousoro with Fellowship Award

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has awarded its prestigious Fellowship Award to veteran sports journalist and former State Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, Mr. Justice Udousoro, in recognition of his outstanding support for SWAN and his contributions to sports development in Nigeria.

The honor was part of the activities marking SWAN’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration, which commemorated 60 years of promoting sports journalism and excellence in the profession, held from October 29 to 31 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Reacting to the honour, an elated Justice Udousoro expressed his gratitude in a post on his well-known Facebook account, stating that it is a humbling recognition of his more than three and a half decades of dedicated service to the sports media industry and his mentoring of younger sports writers.

Udousoro, a senior staff member of the Akwa Ibom State Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC), described the honour as “a fulfilling crown” that he would not take for granted.

He wrote: “I dedicate this to my state government where I was given the privilege to work at Akbc having had a year’s stint at NTA Ibadan. I also dedicate it to my dear Parents, one is late and one, Professor U J Udousoro is keeping the canopy over is alive, my dear wife and children, our Great SWAN, Akwa Ibom chapter under the leadership of Comrade Emmanuel Akpan and all the sports fans and followers state and nationwide. It is a fulfilling crown I don’t take for granted. Thank you all”.
