Ikot Ekpene: Dr. Patrick Umoh launches innovative digital skills training, empowerment programme

The member representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara federal constituency in the National Assembly, Dr. Patrick Umoh, has launched a revolutionary digital skills training and empowerment programme to improve productivity and create new economic opportunities for his constituents.
At the launch held at his Constituency Office in Ikot Ekpene, on Saturday, Dr. Umoh highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating that it would bring about a digital revolution for the young individuals in his constituency.
During the event, the federal lawmaker presented the first batch of fifteen beneficiaries with free laptops and N50,000 to support the successful implementation of the programme.
He pointed out that the programme, managed by Netizens ICT Centre in Uyo, was a direct response to the changing landscape of the business world, recognizing that digital skills play a crucial role in driving economic growth and development in Nigeria and globally.
Dr. Umoh noted that the event was just the beginning of many more to follow, even as he underscored his dedication to empowering the young people and fostering a more inclusive and prosperous environment within the Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara federal constituency.

“We must learn to accept the current state of our economy and take practical steps to improve ourselves. The world is embracing the digital economy, and we must take the right actions. This is just the first phase. I would like to thank those who partnered with me to bring this project to fruition”, he declared.
Dr. Umoh, who a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the federal House, highlighted his accomplishments which include facilitating the employment of sixteen constituents, implementing solar-powered lighting throughout the federal constituency, sponsoring 16 bills, and various other achievements.
While he encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity wisely, Umoh expressed optimism that the training programme would make a meaningful impact, particularly in empowering young constituents and equipping them for future challenges.
Engr Charles Usua, a Board member of Akwa Ibom State College of Education, and Mr. Ofonmbuk Atakpa, a lecturer, praised the programme as a generous gesture that would solidify the lawmaker’s legacy and pave the way for his future political endeavors.
Two beneficiaries, Ms. Susan Ekpo from Essien Udim and Mr. Francis Ekanem from Ikot Ekpene, thanked Dr. Patrick Umoh for the laptops and cash support. They commended him for launching the programme, stating that it would enhance their learning in ICT skills and enable them to compete effectively in the global arena.
