Senate Primary: Lady Otong congratulates Akpabio on consensus emergence

A woman leader in Akwa Ibom State, Lady Iniobong Bassey Otong (LSM), has congratulated the President of the Senate, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, on his emergence as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Akwa Ibom North-West (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District.
Lady Otong, who is the Head of the Catholic BLOC of WOWICAN (Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria- CAN), Akwa Ibom State, and Immediate Past President of the Uyo Diocesan Catholic Women Organisation Nigeria (CWON), saluted Senator Akpabio in a congratulatory message made available to our correspondent on Monday.

In a congratulatory message issued shortly after the party’s primary election, Lady Otong, who is also the Secretary of the Projects Committee of the National Catholic Women Organization Nigeria, described Akpabio’s emergence as well deserved, noting that his victory reflected his long-standing political experience, leadership credentials, and contributions to the development of Akwa Ibom State and the senatorial district.
She said Akpabio’s commitment to human capital development and grassroots empowerment had continued to earn him widespread support and recognition across the state.
Lady Otong appreciated Akpabio’s wife, the Eka Esit Mbom, Dr. (Mrs) Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, for her support for her dear husband, making him a very successful man, and her care for the women and less privileged.
She praised the Senate President’s leadership style and expressed confidence in his ability to sustain quality representation for the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our amiable Senate President, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, on his election as the APC consensus senatorial candidate for Ikot Ekpene District,” she said.
She further described Akpabio as “a nation-builder, a strategic mastermind of grassroots development, and a hardworking and inclusive politician.”
According to her, the outcome of the primary election was a clear affirmation of Akpabio’s political relevance and enduring popularity among party members and constituents.
Lady Otong wished the Senate President success in the forthcoming 2027 senatorial election.
Akpabio was declared the APC senatorial candidate on Monday after emerging as the party’s consensus candidate during the primary election held at Methodist Primary School, Okop Akama, Ukana west ll ward in Essien Udim LGA.
