Rector calls for unity, teamwork at New Year thanksgiving service

The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Mrs Eduma Essien, has called on staff of the institution to remain united and work together for the growth of the polytechnic.
She said the management believes strongly in fairness and justice, and that rewards will always be based on these values.
Mrs Essien made the call while speaking at the New Year Thanksgiving Service organised by the Staff Fellowship.
The service was held at the 250-Capacity Lecture Theatre on the main campus of the polytechnic.
The Rector said all the achievements recorded by the institution in 2025 were made possible by God.
She expressed hope and confidence that the year 2026 would bring even greater progress and success to the polytechnic.
In a sermon titled “The Need for Thanksgiving,” Reverend Anthony Omorogieva read from 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
He explained that thanksgiving is a command from God to Christians at all times.
He said a thankful heart brings promotion, upliftment, and more blessings.
He encouraged staff to live a life of thanksgiving in order to enjoy God’s favour in 2026.
The Polytechnic Librarian, Mr Ehikioya Uduebor, gave the vote of thanks.
He appreciated the Staff Fellowship for organising what he described as a touching and impactful programme.
He also thanked members of staff for attending the service.
The high point of the thanksgiving service was a special prayer session for the continued growth and success of the institution.
