Ukana Poly Rector bags Excellence Award at coronation of Ikot Ekpene paramount ruler
The Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Mrs Eduma Enobong Essien, has been honoured with an Excellence Award by the Government and people of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the development of education and her transformative leadership at the Polytechnic.
The award was presented to Mrs Essien during the grand coronation ceremony of the Paramount Ruler of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Okuku Okon Udo Ukut, held at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.
The recognition was in appreciation of Mrs Essien’s education development initiatives, which have contributed to transforming Federal Polytechnic Ukana into an emerging centre of excellence in technical, entrepreneurial and skills education.
Her leadership has also strengthened the institution’s focus on practical skills, innovation and self-reliance.
Presenting the award, the Royal Father commended Mrs Essien for what he described as her stellar performance at Federal Polytechnic Ukana.
He noted the positive impact of her leadership on the institution and urged her to sustain the momentum and do more in advancing education and skills development.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the conferment, Mrs Essien expressed appreciation to the Paramount Ruler and the people of Ikot Ekpene for the honour. She described the recognition as an encouragement to her and the management of the Polytechnic to do more in contributing to the development of education.
The Rector promised to continue to raise the bar in entrepreneurial and technical education, stressing the importance of equipping young people with relevant skills that would make them self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society.
Mrs Essien also congratulated HRM Okuku Okon Udo Ukut on his coronation, wishing him good health, wisdom and many more impactful years on the throne.
She prayed that the reign of the Paramount Ruler would bring peace, unity, progress and prosperity to Ikot Ekpene and its people.
